PCD Inserts

PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) is a synthetic diamond product that is produced by sintering together selected diamond particles with a metal matrix, using sophisticated technology. The diamond and matrix, when sintered together under high temperatures and pressures, creates a PCD tool blank that is high in uniform hardness and is abrasive resistant in all directions. PCD Inserts is made of PCD tips (cutting from PCD blank) and a carbide (or other material) substrate. According to different machining requests, it can be PCD single point cutting tools and multiple cutting edges tools.

Applications
Cutting Application
1 CUTTING

Cutting refers to the processing method of using cutting tools (including cutting tools, grinding tools and abrasives) to cut off the excess material layer on the blank or workpiece into chips, so that the workpiece can obtain the specified geometry, size and surface quality.

Turning Application
2 TURNING

Turning is a cutting process in which the workpiece is rotated and the turning tool moves in a straight line or a curve in the plane. Turning is generally carried out on a lathe to process the inner and outer cylindrical surfaces, end surfaces, conical surfaces, forming surfaces and threads of the workpiece.

Milling Application
3 MILLING

Milling is a high-efficiency machining method that uses a rotating multi-blade tool to cut a workpiece. When working, the tool rotates (for the main movement), the workpiece moves (for the feed movement), and the workpiece can also be fixed, but at this time the rotating tool must still move (to complete the main movement and the feed movement at the same time).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q:What is the main benefit of using PCD Inserts?
PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) inserts offer exceptional hardness, uniform structural integrity, and superior wear resistance in all directions. They significantly increase tool lifetime and efficiency compared to standard carbide tools, particularly in non-ferrous applications.
Q:Which materials are ideal for machining with PCD inserts?
PCD inserts are highly suited for non-ferrous metals (like aluminum, aluminum alloys, copper, and tungsten carbide) as well as non-metal materials (such as wood, reinforced plastics, rubber, graphite, and industrial ceramics).
Q:Can PCD tools be used on steel or ferrous metals?
PCD is generally not recommended for machining ferrous metals (like steel and cast iron) because the carbon in the diamond reacts chemically with iron at high temperatures, leading to rapid tool wear. For ferrous materials, PCBN inserts are typically preferred.
Q:What are the standard packaging and delivery terms?
Standard packaging includes a single box per wheel, and 10 to 20 wheels per carton. Delivery time varies between 3 to 30 days after order confirmation, depending on the production season and the specific order quantity.
Q:How do PCD inserts contribute to cost reduction?
Due to their extreme wear resistance and extended service life, PCD inserts minimize tool replacement downtime and produce higher surface quality, which lowers the overall cost per finished unit in high-volume production.
